LIGHTING DESIGNER
The Dramatic Voices Program Berlin is a training program for professional and aspiring opera singers. This year's program project is a production of Elektra (Richard Strauss) with reduced orchestration. Rehearsals and performances will take place in the Great Hall of the Luisen-Kirchengemeindehaus in Charlottenburg (Gierkeplatz). It is essential that the person lives/is based in Berlin as we are not able to cover travel expenses and accommodations.
We are looking for someone to work with our director, Richard Gammon (English speaking), to design and run the lighting for the production, as well as select/hire and set up the lighting equipment as the hall has very minimal lighting, nothing really theatrical.
A good command of English is required as the director does not speak German.
Relevant dates are:
August 10, 2024 - set up and lighting rehearsal
August 11-14, 2024 - Stage orchestra rehearsals
August 15 & 16, 2024 - dress rehearsals
August 17, 18 & 19, 2024 - Performances (different cast each night)
August 20, 2024 - Dismantling
If interested, please send CV by 25.05.2024 at the latest to [email protected]

Because the program has no age limit, young dramatic voices get to share the stage with seasoned professionals who are participating in the program because they want to sing a particular role or are changing Fachs. I established solid professional relationships with people who are in the industry, and working in the opera houses in Europe. And what I have received in lessons, coachings, masterclasses and performance opportunities, headshots, recordings has been one of the most cost effective investments I have done.'
- Stephanie DePrez, Soprano [Woglinde, Das Rheingold 2019]
'Everything that was promised by the program came through beautifully. The daily coachings were impeccable, the voice teaching was fantastic. I feel like I have arrived at another level. I can add Wagner to my repertoire and I owe this to the Dramatic Voices Program Berlin.'
- Marc Molomot, Tenor [Mime, Das Rheingold 2019]
'My favorite part were the coachings and lessons, which were at a very high level - they were specific and always done from an encouraging point of view. I did a lot of artistic growth in an environment that is supportive and encourages risk-taking.'
