Am I a dramatic voice and should I apply?
The program will accept artists at different stages of development and cast them accordingly. The program is oriented towards larger voices, but we do also cast lyric voices in suitable roles. Wagner's Die Walküre has roles of varying lengths and weights, which allows for casting of younger dramatic, spinto and lyric voices, introducing them to the process of learning and performing a Wagner role without the strain of a lengthy score.

I have fallen ill, now what?
We have a generous cancellation policy which will be sent upon acceptance to the program. If illness occurs during the program, we will ask a cover cast artist to step in. We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for cost reimbursement in the case of illness or accident.

How many casts of WAGNER'S Die Walküre will be there?
Our production will be triple cast, with additional covers for main roles who will perform a concert of scenes. Usually, this is done if the role is too demanding to sing several nights in a row and/or is shared by younger artists with less stage experience. Each cast will get ample musical and staging rehearsal time, plus individual musical and language coachings. The cover cast will also get substantial rehearsal time as well as coachings.

How do I find accommodations?
Berlin is still reasonably affordable and many opera singers make the city their home base. Subletting culture is alive and well in the city, so we recommend searching alternatives to booking a hotel room.

Is Berlin safe?
Although Berlin is a large and cosmopolitan center, it is one of the safest European cities. Public transportation is also affordable and runs 24-hours, 7 days a week.

How will I get around the city?
The program venue is centrally located in Berlin's Charlottenburg distric and is close to public transport: U7 and U2 UBahn line as well as numerous bus lines. A monthly AB pass is €106.50 and a weekly pass is €44.60. Both passes can be used on underground trains (UBahn), above ground trains (SBahn) as well as buses and trams.
